Fabrice Muamba

On Saturday the 17th of March, Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba, collapsed on the pitch during his sides FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur, collapsed in the middle of the pitch from a heat attack. The only saving grace for the young player was the fact he was seen to immediately by medical staff who where obviously already there for the football match.

Fabrice was rushed to the London Chest Hospital where he was placed into intensive care, the speed at which he was treated and taken to such a specialist hospital will be absolutely critical to the over all outcome of his recovery. Doctors and experts have commented, saying that of all the places this could have happened to him; in the middle of the pitch was second best next to an actual hospital. It is at this point still unclear as to how this terrible event will effect him overall.

The entire footballing community have come together in wishing Fabrice as speedy and full recovery and in wishing his family all the comfort and strength in the the world at this very testing time. Fabrices family have come out publicly to thank everyone for their warm well wishes, cards and flowers.

Of course it is easy to forget the terrible trauma suffered by his fellow team meats and Tottenham players who where also there to witness such a terrible event take place with utter helplessness written all over their faces. Needless to say, that the game did not continue on and this was at the request of both sides. The game of football is important to us all, but not when it comes to a tragedy such as this taking place. Both teams have dealt with the incident with professionalism and dignity.

As a Liverpool fan myself, I have watched Fabrice on many occasions and some against my beloved Liverpool, causing them problems. I personally would like to wish him a speedy and full recovery and I look forward to seeing him back on the pitch causing all the problems to defenders as he is known for causing
